Reply by Rodney on September 6, 2005Hi, I know it's a while now from your posting, but if you want to know how I got it to work after same problem on XP, then read on. I found out by trial and error that decreasing your screen resolution to 800x600 or less and reducing your colour depth from highest/32bit to medium/16bit/256 colours allows the game to load. If you then have trouble when it spontaneously crashes back to windows, your problem, believe it or not, is that your sound card does not support hardware buffering.

If you test it with the directx/sounds utility in system tools/system information, it will tell you whether or not it does. Luckily I had a few spare sound cards hanging around, and one passed the test. It was a card with the CM18738/PCI-SX chipset.Having told you all this, I don't know if you'll get it to run on W2K. All the sites I've looked at say only W95/98, although, I'm running it beautifully on XP Pro SP2!! 256MB RAM, 64MB Geforce Card.Bye now.
